Open Cell Spray Foam & Closed Cell – What Coverage’s to Expect.

By | December 10, 2013

One of the most common questions we are asked at U.S. Spray Foam Rentals is…  What kind of coverage can I expect from each type of foam?

The answer to this question is pretty straightforward. Our spray foam rental equipment is designed to maximize the yields that come from each set of material that is applied. There are factors that must be considered when applying foam such as temperatures, substrate materials, etc. But thats our job. We figure that end of the installation out for you!

Foam is measured is often measured by the board foot. A board foot is 12″ x 12″ x 1″ depth.

Here is a generic breakdown on what kind of coverages or yields to expect from each set of foam:

Open Cell:

This material yields the most coverage per set: 16,000 -17,000 bd. ft.

Closed Cell:

Closed cell foam yields: 4,000 – 4,200 bd. ft. per set.

Roofing Foam

This foam material typically yields 3,000 – 3,200 bd. ft. per set.
